Photos, Memorabilia & Ephemera - Tributes and Credits

These photos are to promote the memories of the spirit and sacrifices of the Australians who served during World War 2 generally - and specifically those who served in the Pacific theatre of operations.  These photos are from the collection of war veteran Henry G. Collins, who served with the Australian forces on Manus Island during WW2.  If you recognize parents, uncles, grandfathers in the photos - let us know, that's part of the purpose of these sample photos, to help the generations that have benefited from the efforts of our parents and grandparents generation to better remember them as individuals and as a group.

In 2003 probably well over half of the people in the photos are now dead.  For those of us going through old photo albums or the proverbial "shoebox / cardboard box photo 'collections' " we wish to share some of our parents memories.

We wish to give appropriate credit and documentation about the people and backgrounds in the photos, so if you have information as to specific:  dates, names and ranks of people, locations, names of groups shown - please send email to MetroTown.info site adminwith details and your connection to this topic.

We would like to give particular credit to the photographer(s) of these photos and mention if possible of the the equipment and film used to record the original photos.

If we have inadvertently infringed upon copyright, please let us know, and we will give appropriate credits or deal with the issues as necessary.

Thank you for visiting this area.
