In 1990 Mark left private practice and joined the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee of BC for the purpose of developing new provincial legislation.  After succeeding in achieving the passing of the Adult Guardianship Act, Representation Agreement Act, and Health Care Consent and Facility Care Admission Act in 1993 Mark returned to private practice on West Broadway in Vancouver where he remains today. 

Today his practice consists of family law, estate litigation,adult guardianship and general litigation.

In order to better serve his family law clients Mark trained to become a collaborative family lawyer in 2002 and family law mediator in 2003.

"You (and everyone else) should have a Will.  It’s never too soon to make provisions for your death or possible incapacity. This is true even if you have few assets, or are confident that family and friends will handle things the way you want. A Will ensures that:

• an executor can act immediately - to make funeral arrangements and identify and secure assets - thus avoiding delay, uncertainty and possibly the need for a Court application before administration can be commenced
• your worldly possessions are protected and dealt with as you would wish
• suitable arrangements are made for minor children or others
• family and friends are clear as to your wishes and who is carrying them out
• costs to the estate and time required to administer are minimized

Making a Will need not be complicated or expensive.  You can have your Will prepared by a lawyer or notary public. Several options for legal advice are offered under ‘Lawyers – Directory of Public Legal Services’ in the telephone Yellow Pages. You can prepare your own Will with the help of a Will ‘kit’ available in most bookshops. Every Will should be reviewed periodically to ensure it reflects current circumstances.
